The House

Shamshik takes its name from a bird drawn in the margins of old manuscripts — small, patient, covered in ornament, and always turned towards the sun.

The house was founded in Yerevan with three people and one cutting table. It has grown, but not by much, and deliberately so: everything shown under this name is made in the same room by the same hands.

We work in two registers. Ready-to-wear, shown twice a year, is where the cutting is tested — coats that move ahead of the body, seams that run uninterrupted, cloth chosen for how it falls rather than how it photographs. Couture, shown once, is where the ornament is allowed to take as long as it takes.

We do not produce to a calendar we cannot keep. A collection is shown when it is finished. That is the only rule the house has never broken.

How it is made

01

One room

Cutting, fitting and finishing all happen in the same atelier in Yerevan.

02

By hand

No piece leaves the house finished by machine alone.

03

When ready

Collections are shown when they are done, not when the calendar says.
